The film "Dearest" (2012) follows Eiji Kurashima (Ken Takakura), a correctional officer, as he travels 1000 kilometers from Toyama City to scatter his late wife Yoko's ashes in the sea. Along the way, he meets various strangers and recalls experiences with Yoko, seeking to understand her true feelings. He is assisted by those he meets, including food-stall cook Tamiya Yuji (Tsuyoshi Kusanagi).
