In this musical drama film directed by Anthony Mann, Mario Lanza plays Damon Vincenti, a poor vineyard worker who becomes an operatic tenor and is involved in two women: high society hostess Kendall Hale (Joan Fontaine) and Mexican bullfighter's daughter Juana Montes (Sara Montiel). The film features extensive operatic music sung by Lanza, including the Act III Monologue from Verdi's Otello. Ultimately, Vincenti finds love with Juana, escaping his heartbreak and a troubled past.
