Thermae Romae

Thermae Romae follows architect Lucius (Hiroshi Abe) as he discovers a hidden tunnel leading to a modern Japanese bathhouse while submerging himself in a Roman bath. Inspired by the modern conveniences, Lucius brings them back to Rome and creates his own spa, Roma Thermae. He befriends Satsuki Odate (Aya Ueto), an aspiring manga artist, who becomes enamored with him, but their romance is complicated by Lucius's responsibilities as a Roman architect and emperor Hadrian's plans for succession.
