The Hawaiians

Charlton Heston stars as Whip Hoxworth, a sea captain who returns to Oahu after 40 years to find his grandfather has died and left him a barren estate. He brings along Chinese laborers, including Mun Ki (Mako) and Bong Nyuk Tsin (Tina Chen), whom he hires as domestics after intervening in their conflict over the woman. Whip's wife Purity (Geraldine Chaplin) tries to help him navigate his relationships with the Chinese couple and their children, while Whip's own son Noel (John Phillip Law) struggles with his identity and eventually finds love with Mei Lei, Wu Chow's Auntie's daughter.
