Lullaby of the Earth

The 1976 Japanese film "Lullaby of the Earth" tells the story of an orphan girl, brought up in naive innocence by her elderly grandmother, who is suddenly exposed to the harsh realities of the outside world after her death. Characterized by a healthy distrust of strangers, Rin (Mieko Harada) is eventually manipulated by a cunning racketeer into becoming entangled in a system of exploitation and moral decay. Her descent into this darkness serves as a poignant commentary on the corrupting influence of greed, vanity, and lust.
