The Way Ahead

A mismatched collection of conscripted civilians finds training tough under Lieutenant Jim Perry and Sergeant Ned Fletcher when they are called up to replace an infantry battalion that had suffered casualties at Dunkirk, learning to overcome their differences and forge a cohesive fighting unit amidst chaos and camaraderie. Their grueling training regime is marked by humor, loyalty, and purpose as they gradually come to understand the reasons behind the harsh discipline of their drill sergeant. Eventually deployed overseas to North Africa, the platoon finds itself in the midst of battle, defending their positions against the Afrika Korps with fierce determination and bravery that will be remembered long after the war is won.
