True Confessions

In 1948, Reverend Desmond Spellacy (Robert De Niro) is a young Roman Catholic monsignor in the Los Angeles Archdiocese, while his older brother Tom (Robert Duvall) is a homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. When Lois Fazenda, a young prostitute labeled "the Virgin Tramp" by the press, is found murdered, Tom and his partner Frank Crotty investigate. As they dig deeper, they uncover a web of corruption involving a corrupt businessman Jack Amsterdam (Charles Durning) and a madam Brenda Samuels (Kenneth McMillan), leading to a tense confrontation that threatens to destroy Des's reputation and career.
