In 1901, a young widow Joanna Selby arrives at her new husband Christopher Leiningen's Brazilian cocoa plantation, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. A massive army ant infestation threatens the plantation, and as they fight to save it, Joanna and Christopher find themselves drawn together in a battle against nature.
