La Bamba

The film follows the life and short-lived musical career of American Chicano rock and roll star Ritchie Valens, played by Lou Diamond Phillips. After working as a farmhand and loving rock-and-roll music, Richie attends San Fernando High School where he falls in love with classmate Donna Ludwig and joins his friend Chino's band, the Silhouettes. With the help of record producer Bob Keane, Ritchie becomes an overnight sensation after releasing hits like "We Belong Together" and "Come On, Let's Go". However, as his fame grows, Richie faces conflicts with his jealous brother, Bob, who also struggles with personal issues including marrying Rosie Morales while being abusive to her, before ultimately dying in a plane crash alongside Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper.
