Alec Guinness plays Gulley Jimson, an aging artist recently released from prison who exploits his patrons' generosity and artistic talent to create a series of provocative works, including "The Raising of Lazarus" in a Beeder's penthouse and "The Last Judgment" on a wall in an abandoned church.
