Girls of the Night

"Girls of Night" follows Kuniko (Chisako Hara), a young woman recently released from Japan's rehabilitation centers following the 1956 Prostitution Prevention Law, as she struggles to build a new life. She takes on various jobs, including working as a maid and an ama in Bōsō, but faces rejection and mistreatment due to her past. Along the way, Kuniko meets others who also experience exploitation, including her colleague Kimiko (Akemi Kita) and the factory owner's daughter who becomes entangled with her former pimp. Ultimately, Kuniko finds a sense of purpose and belonging through her relationship with Tsukasa Hayakawa (Yōsuke Natsuki), but faces an uncertain future due to societal stigma.
