The 1964 film "Fate Is the Hunter" follows airline executive Sam C. McBane (Glenn Ford), who refuses to accept that pilot error caused a fatal airplane crash. He investigates further, assembling the wreckage and questioning survivors, including stewardess Sally Fraser (Nancy Kwan). As the investigation unfolds, it becomes clear that something was amiss with the flight, but the absence of technical fault leads McBane to suspect that his friend, Captain Jack Savage (Rod Taylor), may have been at fault. A re-enactment test flight is organized as part of the investigation, and ultimately reveals that a series of coincidences and errors in procedure led to the crash, exonerating Savage of pilot error.
