The Swallows of Kabul

In Kabul under Taliban rule in 1998, Zunaira and Mohsen, a young couple with university education, are caught in the harsh realities of life where even drawing human figures is forbidden. When Mohsen's foolish gesture causes life to take an irrevocable turn, Zunaira is sentenced to death after being accused of killing her husband. In prison, Zunaira forms an unlikely bond with Atiq, the director of the women's prison, who becomes obsessed with saving her from the brutal regime.
