The Big Heat

Detective Dave Bannion (Glenn Ford), investigating the suspicious suicide of fellow cop Tom Duncan, becomes a vengeful obsessive after his wife is killed in a car bomb meant for him. As he delves deeper into the case, he finds himself up against a vicious crime syndicate led by mob boss Mike Lagana. With the help of Debby Marsh (Gloria Grahame), who is initially intimidated by Bannion's rough demeanor but eventually becomes his ally in his quest for revenge, Bannion ultimately brings down the corrupt police officials and the crime syndicate, leading to a reckoning for those responsible for his wife's murder.
