In the 1951 film noir "On Dangerous Ground," director Nicholas Ray weaves a complex tale of redemption set against the stark backdrop of rural America. When a big-city cop is sent to a small town after his superiors find him too hot-headed for his own good, he must confront his own demons in order to bring a suspected murderer to justice. Loosely based on Gerald Butler's novel "Mad With Much Heart," the film stars Robert Ryan as Jim Wilson, a worn and weary detective who finds himself drawn into a manhunt that leads him to a blind woman and her mentally disabled brother - ultimately leading to a tragic confrontation that forces him to confront his own darkness.
