Heart Like a Wheel

In 1956, waitress Shirley Muldowney marries auto mechanic Jack Muldowney over her father's objections, and she becomes a housewife while he races his hot rod on deserted stretches of road at night. One chance encounter with professional driver "Big Daddy" Don Garlits inspires her to pursue sponsorship for her own drag racing career, despite the skepticism of those around her. As Shirley perseveres in the male-dominated sport, she faces personal struggles and a tumultuous romance with fellow driver Connie Kalitta, who eventually becomes her crew chief and helps her achieve greatness on the track.
