Betty Grable stars as Freddie, a hot-headed saloon singer who accidentally shoots Judge O'Toole and goes on the run with her friend Conchita (Olga San Juan). They disguise themselves as schoolmarm and teacher in a small town, where they meet Charles Hingelman (Rudy Vallee) and must navigate complications when Freddie's boyfriend Blackie (Cesar Romero) shows up.
