Betty Grable was a trailblazing American actress and pin-up girl who began dancing at three and landed her first film role at 12. She rose to stardom in the 1940s with starring roles in musicals such as Coney Island and Down Argentine Way, becoming the highest-paid star in Hollywood by 1947. Grable's iconic legs were insured for $1 million, and she remained a popular figure until her death from lung cancer at age 56 in 1973.
