In 1919 post-WWI Copenhagen, Karoline (Vic Carmen Sonne) is taken in by Dagmar (Trine Dyrholm), a charismatic elder who runs an underground adoption agency, helping her survive despite being newly unemployed and pregnant. The two form an unexpected bond, but a sudden discovery changes everything.
