Proud Heritage

The 1989 Romanian film "Mircea" tells the story of King Mircea I of Wallachia, who led a successful resistance against the Ottoman Empire's attempts to conquer his kingdom in the late 14th century and early 15th century. The film also explores the later life of Vlad III the Impaler, Mircea's grandson, who would succeed him on the throne and continue his legacy of fighting against the Ottomans. Sergiu Nicolaescu stars as King Mircea I of Wallachia.
