A Hen in the Wind

Tokiko Amamiya (Kinuyo Tanaka), a twenty-nine-year-old mother of a young boy, waits for her husband's repatriation from World War II in postwar Tokyo. After falling ill and facing financial desperation, Tokiko reluctantly resorts to prostitution. Her husband Shuichi (Shūji Sano) returns home to find his wife, who reveals the truth about their situation, leading to a tumultuous period of guilt, forgiveness, and reconciliation as they navigate the consequences of her actions and their relationship is tested by Shuichi's struggle with his own emotions and violent outbursts.
