Set against the vast and unforgiving Australian Outback, "The Sundowners" tells the story of an Irish-Australian sheep herder, Paddy Carmody, and his wife Ida, who are torn between their desire for a settled life and Paddy's insatiable wanderlust. When they hire a refined Englishman to help drive a large herd of sheep to market, tensions rise as Ida's desire to buy a farm is at odds with Paddy's reluctance to settle down. As the family faces various challenges on their journey, including bushfires, drinking binges, and a high-stakes shearing contest, they must ultimately decide what truly matters: the freedom of the open road or the security of a home.
