Along Came Jones

Gary Cooper stars as Melody Jones, a mild-mannered cowboy mistaken for notorious outlaw Monte Jarrad (Dan Duryea). In Payneville, he meets Cherry de Longpre (Loretta Young), Monte's girlfriend, who tries to use him to distract the townsfolk but eventually develops feelings for him. The film spoofs Western cliches as Cooper's character is unable to shoot straight and sings silly songs while riding his horse.
