Honky Tonk

Clark Gable plays Candy Johnson, a fast-talking con man and grifter who rises to be the corrupt boss of Yellow Creek, as he brings his quick wits and magic tricks to the small Nevada gold rush town where he meets Elizabeth Cotton, played by Lana Turner, the daughter of Judge Cotton. As they navigate their complicated relationships and Candy's rise to power, Elizabeth eventually becomes pregnant with his child, but ultimately falls from her carriage after hearing that her father has been shot in a town meeting.
