Man in a Cocked Hat

A 1959 British comedy film starring Terry-Thomas as Cadogan de Vere Carlton-Browne, a brutally inept diplomat sent to re-establish good relations with the island of Gaillardia. Accompanied by his military attaché Colonel Bellingham (Thorley Walters), Carlton-Browne tries to navigate the complexities of diplomacy amidst a struggle for power between the king and his advisors. The British ultimately use the United Nations to partition the island, but not before Loris, the young Oxford-educated son of the king, falls in love with Princess Ilyena.
