Jun'ai monogatari

The film "Jun'ai Monogatari" (1957) tells the story of two poor youths, Mitsuko and Kando, played by Hitomi Nakahara and Shinjirō Ehara as Kantaro Hayakawa, respectively, who struggle to be together despite societal circumstances. The movie depicts their lives as thieves, laborers, and outcasts, highlighting their struggles within Japan's reformatory system and the worsening condition of Mitsuko. Directed by Tadashi Imai, the film won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 8th Berlin International Film Festival.
