Biography

Joseph Henry Roberts was a renowned American comic actor, known for his distinctive appearance and roles in Buster Keaton's silent films. He toured the country with his first wife Lillian Stuart Roberts in a vaudeville act before joining Keaton as part of his apprenticeship with Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. Roberts appeared in 16 of Keaton's 19 silent short films, often playing menacing authority figures opposite Keaton's thin frames.
