Arthur Dignam

Biography

Arthur Dignam was an Australian character actor born on Lord Howe Island in 1939. He gained recognition for his early role as Brother Francine in Fred Schepisi's The Devil's Playground (1976), and later appeared in notable films like Professor Bernard Thornton in "The Dreaming" (1988) and the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar in 1972-73. Dignam's son, actor Nicholas Gledhill, followed in his footsteps, born to Bobbie Gledhill in Sydney in 1975.
