Biography

Yūjirō Ishihara was a Japanese actor and singer born on December 28, 1934, in Kobe. He made his film debut at age 21 with Season of the Sun (1956), based on a novel by his brother Shintaro. As a beloved post-war youth star and macho movie hero, he appeared in notable films like Phantom F. Harlock I: Arcadia of My Youth (1982) and Samurai Banners (1969). His life was tragically cut short due to liver cancer in 1987.
