Alone on the Pacific

A young yachtsman, played by Yūjirō Ishihara as The Youth, impulsively decides to sail across the Pacific Ocean to San Francisco, but soon finds himself in trouble when he encounters a ship with American passengers and realizes he doesn't have a passport. He receives a hero's welcome upon landing, but is also scolded by the Japanese consulate due to his lack of documentation.
