Biography

Yoshi Oida is a Japanese actor and director known for his roles in "Show Me the Way to the Station" (2019), "Silence" (2016), and "The Last Ronin" (2010). Born on July 26, 1933, in Kobe, Japan, Oida began his career by studying classical Japanese theater forms before collaborating with writer Mishima Yukio. He has also worked extensively in theater productions, both acting and directing, particularly with the Thalia Theater in Germany, where he emphasizes the importance of mindful development of voice and body through techniques from Japanese Buddhism and theater traditions like Nō.
