Tom Bell

Biography

Thomas George Bell was born on August 2, 1933, in Liverpool, Lancashire, and began acting at 15 in school plays. A naturally gifted actor with a "quiet, mesmeric brand of acting", he trained under Esme Church and went on to have notable roles in television, including Albert Stokes in Harold Pinter's A Night Out (1960), and in film, such as Detective Sergeant Bill Otley in Prime Suspect. He often played menacing or seedy characters.
