Biography

Wang Hongwei is a Chinese actor born in Anyang, Henan. He gained prominence through his collaboration with director Jia Zhangke at the Beijing Film Academy, making his screen debut in Jia's breakthrough short film Xiao Shan Going Home in 1995. Wang has since appeared in nearly all of Jia's films, including starring roles in Xiao Wu and Platform, solidifying his reputation as the director's on-screen alter ego.
