Gene Lockhart

Biography

Gene Lockhart was a Canadian-American character actor, singer, and playwright born on July 18, 1891, in London, Ontario. He made his professional debut at six with the Kilties Band of Canada and later appeared in sketches with Beatrice Lillie. Lockhart went on to appear in over 300 films, including notable roles such as Regis in Algiers and Georges de la Trémouille in Joan of Arc, for which he earned an Academy Award nomination.
