Arthur Veary Treacher, Jr., born on July 23, 1894, was a British film and stage actor active from the 1920s to the 1960s, known for his portrayal of English characters, particularly butlers and manservants. He gained fame playing the P.G. Wodehouse character Jeeves in films like "Thank You, Jeeves!" (1936) and "Step Lively, Jeeves!" (1937). Treacher later became a familiar face on American television as an announcer and sidekick to Merv Griffin, and lent his name to the Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips restaurant chain. He passed away on December 14, 1975.
