He is best known for his iconic theme song "East Bound and Down" from the 1977 film Smokey and the Bandit, as well as his Grammy-winning hit "When You're Hot, You're Hot." Reed was also a prolific songwriter, with hits like "Guitar Man," "Alabama Wild Man," and "Amos Moses." He was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame.
