Known for his strong acting style, he appeared in over 300 films and gained a reputation for playing iconic roles such as Tatsuemon Kanamura in "Gamera vs. Gyaos" (1967) and Washizu's workman in "Throne of Blood" (1957). He later became famous for his humorous villainous performances and distinctive voice, earning him the nickname "Ue-Kichi."
