Dev Patel is a British actor and filmmaker known for his breakthrough role as Jamal Malik in Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire (2008), which earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role. He later won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of Saroo Brierley in Lion (2016). Patel has also starred in notable films such as The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011) and Chappie (2015).
