Black Book

In 1944, Dutch Jewish singer Rachel Stein is hiding in occupied Netherlands when her farmhouse is destroyed by an Allied bomber, forcing her to go to see a lawyer named Smaal who helps her escape to the liberated south. Aided by a man named Van Gein, Rachel reunites with her family and boards a boat that is ambushed by German SS, leaving only Rachel alone in survival. Using a non-Jewish alias, Ellis de Vries, Rachel becomes involved with the Dutch Resistance under Gerben Kuipers and, working closely with doctor Hans Akkermans, she seduces local SD commander Ludwig Müntze to gain access to the Gestapo headquarters. As she navigates her new role as a spy and falls in love with Müntze, Rachel must use her intelligence and resilience to uncover the truth behind her own family's betrayal and the plot to rescue their imprisoned members.
