The Prize

Paul Newman as Andrew Craig, a former literary luminary struggling to maintain his reputation after writing pulp detective stories, becomes embroiled in a Cold War kidnapping plot involving Nobel laureate Dr. Max Stratman (Edward G. Robinson), who is replaced by an impostor. As Andrew tries to uncover the truth, he teams up with his chaperone Inger Lisa Andersson (Elke Sommer) and uncovers clues that lead them on a wild goose chase through Stockholm and Germany. Along the way, Andrew's investigations are complicated by his own drinking problem and his growing attraction to Inger, who is initially assigned to keep an eye on him.
