This Gun for Hire

In this gripping film noir, hitman Philip Raven (Alan Ladd) is driven by rage and a thirst for revenge after being double-crossed by his employer Willard Gates. As he tries to track down Gates, he finds himself entangled with Ellen Graham (Veronica Lake), a nightclub performer who is also the object of affection for Detective Michael Crane (Robert Preston). As Raven's quest for vengeance intensifies, Ellen becomes his unlikely ally in a cat-and-mouse game that threatens to expose a web of corruption and deceit.
