Blood of the Vampire

The film "Blood of the Vampire" (1958) is about a man, Dr. John Pierre, played by Vincent Ball, who is sentenced to life imprisonment in a penal colony instead of being sent to a penal island. He is then transferred to a prison for the criminally insane, where he works under the supervision of the sinister Dr. Callistratus, played by Donald Wolfit, a mad scientist who is conducting gruesome blood-typing and transfusion experiments to sustain his own return to life. As Dr. Pierre becomes increasingly uncomfortable with his work, he discovers that Dr. Callistratus is using the blood of unwilling inmates, including his fiancée Madeleine, played by Barbara Shelley.
