Who Done It?

Benny Hill stars as Hugo Dill, an ice rink sweeper who dreams of becoming a private investigator, in this 1956 British slapstick black and white comedy crime film directed by Basil Dearden. After winning a cash prize and a bloodhound in a sleuthing contest, Hugo sets up his own detective agency and becomes embroiled in a plot to assassinate British scientists, with the help of his blonde friend Frankie, played by Belinda Lee. Along the way, Hugo has numerous run-ins with the police and must use his cunning and disguises to evade capture. The film features plenty of comedic moments, with Benny Hill exploiting his charm and physical comedy skills to great effect.
