In a delightful send-up of self-help guru culture, hapless Henry Palfrey enrolls in the College of Lifemanship to learn how to best his nemesis, the loathsome cad Raymond Delauney, and win the heart of April, the love of his life. With the guidance of the eccentric Mr. Potter, Palfrey learns various ploys to gain the upper hand in social situations, from conning shady car dealers to outmaneuvering his rival at tennis. But as he puts his newfound skills to the test, Palfrey must confront his own insecurities and learn that true success may not come from tricks of the trade, but from being genuine.
