Edward Chapman

Biography

Edward Chapman was a versatile English actor who began his stage career in the 1920s, appearing in numerous roles at Nottingham's Repertory Theatre and London's Court Theatre. He gained recognition for his iconic portrayal of "Mr. Wilfred Grimsdale" opposite Norman Wisdom in a string of films from the late 1950s to the early 1960s. After World War II, Chapman transitioned to television, landing character roles until his final appearance in the BBC's The Onedin Line.
