Biography

Alastair Sim was a Scottish actor who gained fame for his iconic role as Ebenezer Scrooge in the 1951 film adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and for his portrayal of Miss Fritton in two St. Trinian's films. He also became well-known on the London stage, eventually becoming a prominent figure in West End theatre until his death in 1976. Sim's talents as a poet and elocutionist led to various prizes and academic appointments before his acting career took off.
