A group of actors in Montreal perform a provocative passion play in a Quebec church, blending religious themes with unconventional theories on Jesus' life. As their production gains momentum, its author and main actor, Daniel Coulombe (Lothaire Bluteau), finds his private life mirroring the story of Jesus, drawing parallels to the New Testament. The Church turns against him, and Daniel's life becomes increasingly complicated as he is injured in an accident and ultimately pronounced brain dead, with his organs donated to others. After his death, his friends establish a theatre company to carry on his work.
