Back Street

In turn-of-the-century Cincinnati, Ray Smith (Margaret Sullavan) falls in love with banker Walter Louis Saxel (Charles Boyer), who is engaged to a socially prominent woman. Five years later, they reunite, and despite Walter being married and having a son, Ray becomes his mistress, enduring social ostracism and solitude while waiting for their brief interludes together.
