Night and the City

Harry Fabian (Richard Widmark) is an ambitious American tout and con man on the make in London, where he witnesses a fight between wrestling champion Gregorius (Stanislaus Zbyszko) and his son Kristo, who controls all wrestling in London. After befriending Gregorius, Harry convinces him to host wrestling matches without interference from Kristo, but things take a dark turn when Kristo's men hunt him down for betraying them. With the help of Mary Bristol (Gene Tierney) and Anna (Maureen Delany), Harry tries to escape Kristo's wrath, leading to a tragic confrontation that ends in his death.
