Richard Widmark was a versatile American actor known for his early villainous roles in film noir and later heroic leading parts in westerns and mainstream dramas. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his debut role as Tommy Udo in "Kiss of Death" (1947) and received the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer. Widmark's contributions to the film industry earned him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and he was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame in 2002.
